![]() ![]() ![]() If I jumped off the back of my pick up truck with 4 ruptured discs in my back - you would have to call an ambulance to come and get me and a person with a fork lift to come and pick me up. I can agree to a point - that if you are disabled that you should have some type of access - but if you can climb up in the bed of a four wheel drive pick up truck and if you can ride a four wheeler down a ramp and if you can jump off the tailgate of the pick up truck - then technically you are not disabled. If there is a gate across a road and rocks piled up on either side so a person cannot drive up the road - does the Game Commission give the guy a key? How would you get into one of those places? So this subject has been brewing in my craw for a entire year - wondering if it was legal to do so. There was a trail in the vicinity that looked like a road - that a person like a game warden could drive on with his vehicle that was grass that the food and cover corps must have mowed, but like most roads in the game lands was posted no travel for motor vehicles. Where I was at - there was no foot path and this guy was just driving down through the woods to where he wanted to hunt and because there was no one there to enforce the law - he did pretty much as he pleased. So if there is some type of permit that a person can get to do this - where do you get it from? He drove the four wheeler right up into the bed of his 1/2 ton, four wheel drive Chevrolet Pickup and he jumped off the tailgate - better then I can, and I'm probably in worse shape physically then he was. I scoured the game codes and did not see anywhere - where a person could use a motorized vehicle on roads or trails that were posted for foot travel only - nor could I see any place where it said anything except a electric scooter for someone that was disabled. He claimed that he lost a knee working in the deep mines and that he had a permit to drive a four wheeler (ATV) in the game lands. ![]() I was hunting last year up near the old Game School on Empire Ridge between Game School Road (Brockway) and Portland Mills and there was a guy there that had a four wheeler - that was driving through the woods - hunting squirrels. Is it legal to operate a four wheeler ( Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris ATV) anywhere on state game lands. ![]()
